The original Austin-Healey 100 design of 1952 acquired a 6 cylinder engine in 1956. By 1959 this had become a 2.9 litre unit and the car was fitted with front disc brakes. This was the first 3000 model and had a successful career as a works rally car under its original registration of SJB 471. In more recent years it has competed at Historic rally events and is currently housed at the Heritage Motor Centre Museum at Gaydon.
